Geothermal Heating: A Matter for Specialists

Installing a geothermal heating system with buried loops requires a specific technological expertise. It is highly recommended to ensure that the solution you choose is covered by all professional guarantees, notably that:

	The system has either been officially certified by the competent building authorities (the CSTB in France - Centre for Scientific and Technical Consultancy in Construction - under the aegis of the Ministry of Housing) or, depending on the technology, complies with recognised standards;
	Where available, the system is approved by the relevant authorities (the Ministry, the Electricity supply board, depending on the location) and complies with specific requirements so as to benefit from national or regional subsidies;
	The manufacturer monitors production of the entire system (heat-absorbing loops, heat pumps, domestic hot water tank, etc.), and is fully experienced in the field;
	The installer has received special training and is qualified in geothermal heating systems. He must be capable of conducting the preliminary feasibility studies (sizing of the installation according to the building specifications), installing the system and providing after-sales service.
